Sarah Jessica Parker to launch shoe line with Manolo Blahnik CEO
What do you get when you mix Sarah Jessica Parker with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Maklemus?
A shoe collection made in every "Sex and the City" fan's version of heaven.
Parker will channel her inner Carrie Bradshaw for her first-ever footwear line, to be called SJP, for Nordstrom stores early next year.
Though Parker has talked about damage to her feet from all that time spent in heels filming the hit series, she says Carrie's stiletto-filled wardrobe was not to blame.
"It’s not the heel, it’s what I asked myself to do in the shoe for so many years,” she told Footwear News. “The average woman does not run on concrete in heels to film a TV or movie scene for 12 to 15 hours a day."
Those days are over (unless there really is a "Sex and the City 3" film in the works), but Parker says she will never give up heels.
The SJP collection will include both heels and flats, ranging in price from $200 to $300. There will be handbags and trench coats, too.
If the collection mirrors SJP's famous character's closet, the range of styles will be endless — from feathered and ruffled to shiny and strappy, she has worn it all.
We're not advising you spend your entire paycheck on your shoe collection like Carrie often would, but hey, as she would say: "We need really special ones every now and then — to make the walk a little more fun."
