National Wear Red Day helps fight heart disease
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and Macy's is fighting back the best way they know how -- with fashion.
Friday is the 10th National Wear Red Day, an initiative of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign.
Macy's is GRFW's national founding sponsor, and to help they will host in-store and online shopping events including the annual Wear Red Sale from Jan. 30-Feb. 3.
Ellen Tracy and Kensie are each offering an exclusive red dress for the cause, and so is Marilyn Monroe, a new Macy's collection officially launching in the spring. Ten percent of these sales will benefit the American Heart Association.
On Thursday, a special ceremony will take place outside of Macy's Herald Square's main entrance on Broadway between 34th and 35th streets in Manhattan. Star Jones and a mix of Broadway stars will be on hand to perform and put the spotlight on heart disease.
