Hugo Boss named designer Jason Wu creative director of Boss womenswear Monday, a huge career move for the 30-year-old New York-based designer, who will oversee all women's clothing and ready-to-wear accessories.

Wu will reveal his first collection for the brand in February, Vogue reports. Wu's ladylike designs, often worn by Michelle Obama, should strike a great balance with menswear-dominated Hugo Boss.

"With the state-of-the-art facilities that are unique to the Hugo Boss design labs, I plan to develop a strong, feminine womenswear collection that reciprocates the brand's authority in menswear," Wu told Vogue. He will continue to work on his own line as well.

Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that Marc Jacobs, who stepped down and hired British designers Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley to lead Marc by Marc Jacobs last week, could be freeing himself up for Reed Krakoff's creative director position at Coach, which expires next June. Jacobs' contract with Louis Vuitton is up at the end of 2013, but many question whether he would actually leave his successful run with the French design powerhouse.
