Next time you're in a Banana Republic store, beware. That woman innocently browsing button-downs beside you could be someone's mistress, according to a new survey by AshleyMadison.com, a dating site for the attached that has more than 19 million anonymous wandering-eyed members (ugh). "Life is short. Have an affair" is their mantra.

The site surveyed 52,390 cheating women on their shopping habits and compiled their Top 10 stores, some of which may come as a surprise. Here's the breakdown.

1. Banana Republic
2. J. Crew
3. Macy’s
4. Ann Taylor
5. H&M
6. Bebe
7. Lane Bryant
8. Chico’s
9. Lululemon
10. JC Penney

OK so first of all, who ever thought preppy Banana Republic, J. Crew and Ann Taylor would snag top spots on this list? Pencil skirts and sweaters don't exactly give off the "I'm cheating on my husband" vibe . . . but maybe that's exactly the point. Or maybe it's just that, according to Ashley Madison chief executive Noel Biderman, the site's typical female user is a professional woman in her early 30s.

Lululemon and Bebe we saw coming — you have to kick up your workout routine to attract new suitors in those skintight dresses.

H&M and JC Penney shoppers we're guessing are not with their new men for their money, and Lane Bryant's prominent spot shows that plus-sized women are guilty, too.

More than one third of the women surveyed said they spend more than twice the money on their style they did before their affair, and 26 percent have a secret credit card.

“Becoming more concerned with one's appearance is often a dead giveaway for an affair,” Biderman says. “If your spouse suddenly seems more consumed with style and putting outfits together after spending years in sweatpants, that is a tell tale sign she could be two timing.”

Other popular purchases among those surveyed were Aldo pumps, Rayban aviators, Marc Jacobs handbags, maxi dresses and bright skinny jeans, according to the release. All pretty common items, sorry detectives.
