Blow-out bars come to LI
The blow-out craze that’s been going full steam in Manhattan for the last few years is finally making its way out to the Island. There have been a couple smaller operations, but Aire Blow Dry Bar, which opened earlier this month in Woodbury, seems the most comprehensive to date.
The bright, modern salon has a few add-ons to the blow-out menu -- things like Kerastase treatments, extensions, a no-frizz treatment, and a full makeup and eyelash counter.
The salon’s website shows off a range of styles that customers can choose from -- beachy, boho, glam to name a few. They’ll do braids, they’ll do updos, or even give you extensions ($35 each.) A basic blow-out is $35 but you can get a package, from three ($99) to ten ($295). Makeup is $45 for the quick version, $75 for a more complex “full face” job.
If it’s anything like Dry Bar in Manhattan, you’ll have to plan ahead. Aire manager Lisa Abbey says that even with their “soft opening” the place appears to be taking off. And there will be more -- another location is set to open in November at the Walt Whitman Shops mall and next spring or summer in the Hamptons.
Aire Blow Dry Bar is at 8025 Jericho Tpke.; 516-864-2777 for appointments or schedule online, aireblowdry.com.
