Quail Hill Farm is a stewardship project of the Peconic Land Trust and one of the original CSA farms in the US. This 30 acre farm serves 200 families, a local school, nearby restaurants, a farmers market and food pantries.

 

SHARE $875 family share; $440 single (June through October)

DISTRIBUTION 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday and Tuesday, U-pick and pre-picked at the farm

ON THE MENU 500 varieties of vegetables, fruits and flowers, including carrots, lettuce, greens, peppers, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, melons, garlic, basil, dill, asparagus, beans, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, broccoli rabe, burdock, cauliflower, celery, celeriac, collards, cucumbers, herbs, Jerusalem artichoke, kale, kohlrabi, leeks, okra, onions, scallions, parsnips, peas, pumpkins, daikon and other radishes, rhubarb, rutabaga, soybeans, spinach, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, tomatillos, turnips, winter squash, zucchini, apples, berries, honey; cosmos flower

Winter share includes root vegetables, alliums (bulbous herbs), eggs and greenhouse greens, fennel, horseradish, nasturtium, blackberries, dandelion, grape leaves, lambs' quarter (a green); herbs (including basil, borage, cilantro, chives, marigold, echinacea, comfrey, dill, hyssop, lemon balm, lovage, mint, oregano, marjoram, parsley, rosemary, sage, summer savory, Mexican mint/tarragon, thyme, purslane, sorrel)

ABOUT THE FARM If you're get excited at the prospect of getting your hands in the dirt, this is the CSA for you because members are expected to pitch in, from planting to harvesting. Part of the Peconic Land Trust, the farm also sells eggs and honey on a first-come, first-served basis.
