18 fashion moments from the Sochi Olympics

It's hard to know which was pinker -- Bob Costas' eyes, or Johnny Weir's jacket. Either way, when it comes to Olympics coverage, viewers these days seem just as concerned with the pinks, rainbows and red-white-and-blue patchworks of the Sochi Games as they do the gold, silver and bronze.

Like it or not, the Olympics have become as much a fashion event as an athletic one. Or nearly so. In part, it's due to major labels -- from Under Armour (makers of those speedskating uniforms the team ditched when they found themselves ... um ... losing) to Ralph Lauren (source of the now infamous Sochi opening ceremony patchwork sweaters) -- taking a more prominent role in outfitting athletes. Our addiction to snarky commentary, perfected after years of watching (and critiquing) reality TV only adds to the fervor.
