Vincent's Restaurant and Pizzeria
1004 Willis Ave. Albertson, NY 516-621-7530
Much like most neighborhoods, there are restaurants and take-out stops that have become favorites, considered “required dining” by the locals who crowd the rooms and swear by the food; this is one of those places. Vincent’s has a menu of popular Italian dishes—a list that opens that starts simple with pizza (pie or by the slice), heroes, soups, salads and quick bites like rice balls, stuffed mushrooms and clams Casino. However, the entrées also receive praise, as pasta, chicken and veal are served in the sauces and cooking styles familiar to fans of Italian cuisine (Parmigiana, Milanese, Marsala, Francaise, among others). Desserts are also to be had—with the expected finds of cannoli and cheesecake ready to close (or just for a solitary treat).
Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday; Noon-11 p.m. Sunday. Credit cards: Accepted"Eating at Vincents'," declares the menu, "is like eating in Italy without paying the airfare." Well, it's more like eating in Albertson, at a good, friendly neighborhood pizzeria-restaurant. The pizzeria offers a vast selection of pies--Neapolitan, Sicilian, Grandma and Grampa--with a choice of over a dozen toppings. And there are heros, rice balls, calzones, panserotti (fried dumplings) and sausage rolls. The restaurant does a good job with all the parmigianas, scaloppines and cacciatores, plus pasta and baked pasta. Most of the pastas and entrees are available for catering as well.
