Thanksgiving is a big holiday at restaurants, so it's advisable to reserve early if you're planning to dine out on Nov. 28. Here are spots where you won't have to do the cooking.
RUTH'S CHRIS STEAK HOUSE, 600 Old Country Rd., Garden City, 516-222-0220
This national steak chain focuses on turkey for Thanksgiving Day with a prix-fixe three-course dinner that runs $39.95 for adults and $19.95 for each child. Start with a green salad, followed by a whole roasted turkey with French bread and sausage stuffing, a choice of either garlic mashed potatoes or smashed chipotle sweet potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole and whole cranberry sauce. Finish with either pumpkin pie or apple pie. The restaurant opens at 1 p.m. and seats until 7:30 p.m. For nontraditionalists, the regular menu is also available.
JEWEL BY TOM SCHAUDEL, 400 Broadhollow Rd., Melville, 631-755-5777
This sprawling Melville showpiece will be seating diners at 2, 4 and 6 p.m. for a three-course price-fixed dinner that runs $45 a person; $22.50 for children younger than 12. Openers include such choices as pumpkin soup with roasted apples, a green salad and shrimp cocktail. There's turkey with all the trimmings -- stuffing, maple sweet potato, fresh cranberry-orange relish, mashed potatoes, green beans and Brussels sprouts. Gravy, too. Other options are available, among them salmon, short ribs and gnocchi. Conclude, perhaps, with a warm apple cobbler or pumpkin cheesecake.
HEMINGWAY'S AMERICAN BAR & GRILL, 1885 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh; 516-781-2700
This long-standing Wantagh restaurant features seatings that are staggered every 15 minutes, from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Chef Nicholas Hannides offers a three-course turkey prix-fixe, at $32.95 a person, which includes soup or salad, roasted turkey with stuffing, haricots verts, baby carrots, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Finish with a house-made dessert such as red velvet cake or caramelized apple cake. There's also an a la carte menu featuring such entrees as shell steak ($27.95), salmon ($22.95) and a vegetable plate ($20.95).

The waterside restaurant in Oakdale will feature a buffet from 1 to 6 p.m. The cost is $39.95 for adults and $19.95 per child 12 or younger, plus tax and tip. Children 3 or younger eat free. Choices include roast turkey with giblet gravy, herb stuffing and fresh cranberry sauce; roast prime rib with horseradish cream sauce; pineapple-glazed Virginia ham; loin of pork with homemade applesauce; roasted Atlantic salmon; steamed snow crab legs; chilled shrimp, Caesar salad, chopped salad, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, fresh fruit, mashed potatoes, butternut squash ravioli; pumpkin pie, apple cobbler, cheesecake, pecan pie, brownies, chocolate truffle cake.
Prime in Huntington and Tellers: An American Chophouse in Islip are open Thanksgiving Day from 1 to 8 p.m. The holiday dishes include butternut squash soup with wild rice, pecans and spiced crème fraîche ($12); herb-roasted turkey with giblet gravy, whipped potatoes, cranberry sauce, roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnut-croissant stuffing ($30); pumpkin cheesecake with caramel sauce and cinnamon whipped cream, and pecan pie with bourbon crème anglaise ($11 each). The restaurants' regular a la carte menus also will be available.
THE LIVING ROOM, 207 Main St., East Hampton, 631-324-5006
A four-course menu will be served from 1 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $87 per adult, plus tax and tip; half-price for children 12 and younger. The menu includes choices or roasted pumpkin soup, button mushrooms soup or red beet salad with kale, candied walnuts and blue cheese; open lasagna with mushrooms and chive velouté or Vasterbotton quiche with lojrom caviar sauce and frisée salad; turkey with condiments, flounder meunière, veal burger or grilled vegetables with tofu; pumpkin pie, chocolate tarte, apple pie or toffee-date cake.
BISCUITS & BARBEQUE, 104 E. Second St., Mineola, 516-493-9797
There's limited seating at this Southern-Cajun-BBQ restaurant housed in a vintage Mineola diner, so reserve early if it's a down-home Louisiana-style meal you crave. The three-course meal, at $44.95, includes such appetizer choices as butternut squash soup and andouille sausage gumbo. Among main course options: deep-fried turkey with all the trimmings, turducken (deboned turkey, duck and chicken, each layer separated by a different kind of stuffing), as well as BBQ baby back ribs or shrimp and grits. Finish, perhaps, with pumpkin pie or pumpkin cheesecake. You also get coffee or tea. For the 12-and-younger set, $20.95 buys a deep-fried turkey entree with dessert and beverage. Dinner is served from noon to 8 p.m. Note: The restaurant accepts cash only.

This seasonally driven chain, geared to mindful eating, breaks its own rule (no dish more than 475 calories) with a 1,270-calorie Thanksgiving entree. At $25.95, it features sliced roasted turkey breast with gravy, herb stuffing, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, French-style green beans and cranberry relish; a children's portion of the same entree is $12.95. For those who want to limit their calories, though, the regular menu is available, as is the regular children's menu. Reservations from noon to 8 p.m.

At this South Suffolk steakhouse, a three-course price-fixed dinner goes for $34.99 (half price for children younger than 12). Start with apple- butternut squash soup or roasted red beet-and-arugula salad. Next comes sliced turkey breast with cranberry- orange-mint chutney, brioche bread crumb sausage stuffing, gravy, whipped potatoes and green beans. Conclude with pumpkin, apple or coconut custard pie. The restaurant's regular a la carte menu is available, as well. Thanksgiving dinner is served from 1 to 6 p.m.

Main dishes include roasted turkey with herb stuffing, sweet potatoes and cranberry-pecan chutney; pan-roasted halibut with sliced potatoes Anna; Long Island duck breast with caramelized pear and sauteed spinach; and prime rib with a potato cake and grilled asparagus in a pinot noir reduction. The buffet includes candied pumpkin bisque, spiced hot apple cider, roast turkey with pan gravy, apple-stuffed pork loin, crab risotto, butternut-squash ravioli, penne Bolognese, artichoke-crusted salmon, veal Marsala, Yukon Gold whipped potatoes, candied mashed sweet potatoes, creamed spinach, string beans amandine; pumpkin pie, warm pumpkin bread pudding, warm apple crisp, cheesecake, Italian pastries and an ice cream bar.
