Shiki doesn't mean chic. It's a straightforward, consistent little Japanese restaurant, good for all the basics. Pretense: kept in check. There's friendly service. And it's a recommended eatery whether you're new to the cuisine or a veteran with chopsticks. Start with buckwheat noodles in a light soy broth, then move on to age dashi tofu, or deep-fried bean curd; and then dive in for the full range of uncooked fish, both sashimi and sushi.
