Premier Diner
690 Commack Rd. Commack, NY 631-462-1432
What sets this gleaming diner apart from most of the genre is a creative and well-executed breakfast menu. Co-owner Helen Georgatos offers a regularly changing menu insert that showcases her imaginative thinking. Baked oatmeal is one way to start the morning on the right note. Pancakes — plain, Swedish, fruit-filled or whole wheat — never heavy -- are some of the best served anywhere on Long Island. Omelets are light, yet substantial. As for dinner, don’t be surprised if you find yourself waiting for a table around 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., as the supper rush is almost always tremendous.
