Our favorite Suffolk South Shore restaurants

For decades, dining out along Suffolk's South Shore was highlighted by the big seafood catch. A drift net's worth of fishermen's platters, either broiled or fried, vied with surf-and-turf, often filet mignon and a lobster tail. Stuffed flounder: very popular. Likewise, baked clams and mussels marinara.
But in recent years, the choices from Babylon to Patchogue have grown both in variety and style, the familiar has been tweaked, new eateries continue to expand the repertoire. Traditionalists need not be concerned. Plenty of familiar fare is on the regional menu.
