New offerings at chain restaurants
It sometimes seems like the fast-food and fast-casual restaurants of the world are one step ahead, anticipating our cravings before we even know we have them. Here are some new offerings, some for a limited time.

White Castle started serving veggie sliders at their restaurants on Dec. 30, 2014. The mini burgers are made by Dr. Praeger’s, a brand you’ll find in supermarket freezers nationwide. The patties, studded with peas, carrots, corn and spinach, are served on little buns and topped with a choice of sauce: ranch, honey mustard or sweet Thai.

This Burger King sandwich, which originally debuted in the '70s, is making its return. With ham, American cheese, lettuce and mayo on a toasted hoagie bun, it could be your new favorite lunch.

Wendy's has added a trio of pulled pork items to its menu: a pulled pork sandwich, cheeseburger and fries.

The first winning dish on TNT's "On the Menu" is available at Chili's through Dec. 14. The craft burger, by Dan Marks of Columbia, Md., is a sweet-spicy sandwich topped with a tangy coleslaw and fried garlic-dill pickles.

Get sodas made to order at Starbucks (select locations) in three flavors: spiced root beer, golden ginger ale and lemon ale. At 100 calories for 16 ounces, the drinks include cane sugar.

Wendy's says that more than 50 million pretzel sandwiches were purchased from North American locations in 2013, so July saw their return. Look for the pretzel bacon cheeseburger (with cheddar cheese sauce and honey mustard) and pretzel pub chicken sandwich (with Muenster cheese) through the summer.
