Masala Wok (Hicksville)
107 Broadway Hicksville, NY 516-932-1999
Masala Wok specializes in the Chinese food of India—that is, the food cooked by the Chinese who settled in Calcutta. Many of those settlers were members of the Hakka ethnic group and the food, therefor, resembles the Hakka food found throughout China. What that means for diners (who are not necessarily students of anthropology) is a cooking style that is recognizably Chinese, but with the addition of some Indian ingredients and techniques such as paneer cheese. For good measure, Masala Wok also offers some Thai dishes such as papaya salad and red and green curries, as well as Halal meat.
