Margo & Frank's Mermaid
379 Woodcleft Ave. Freeport, NY 516-546-3393
It looks pretty much the way it must have when it opened in 1976, with its kitschy sea-going decor, but if it's short on innovation, the Mermaid is long on charm. The menu is pretty much what you would expect from an Italian-accented Freeport fish house: plenty of seafood served either fried or broiled, plus lobster fra diavolo, shrimp scampi and scungilli and calamari marinara.
Hours: Open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: 11 am to 9:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Closed Tuesdays. Reservations: Accepted Credit cards: Accepted
