Valentine's Day chocolates from France: a splurge
Looking for a Valentine’s Day gift that will blow your Valentine away? Consider zChocolat. The French chocolatier, based in Aix-en-Provence, specializes in high-end chocolates packaged in luxurious, customizable boxes. In addition to its regular collection, for Valentine’s Day, zChocolat is selling heart-shaped bonbons. Mix and match dark ganache in white chocolate, milk-chocolate hazelnut praline coated with milk chocolate, vanilla-bourbon caramel dressed in dark chocolate or bergamot-infused ganache covered in red couverture.
Prices start at $55 for 12 chocolates in a crisp black-and-white carton and head north from there. A mahogany box containing 42 chocolates is $191. A half-pound, dark-chocolate heart filled with praline and roasted caramelized hazelnuts and cradled in a mahogany box is $217.
Any mahogany box can be customized with a plaque engraved with your own logo or picture ($21) and / or a heart-shaped padlock ($28; you supply the combination). All products are accompanied by a personalized card and placed inside a cloth drawstring pouch — at no extra charge.
Shipping to Long Island is about $23. Orders placed by Feb. 12 will be delivered in time for Valentine's Day. For more information or to order online, go to zChocolate.com.
