It’s a banner week for Newsday’s dining section. Peter Gianotti bestows a rare four stars on Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton, the newest venture for Tom Colicchio of “Top Chef” and Craft restaurants fame. Colicchio and his chef de cuisine Ty Kotz “make Topping Rose House locavore central with monthly menus that highlight East End purveyors and farms,” as well as the restaurant’s own cultivated acre.
At Phayathai, tucked into a nondescript Lake Ronkonkoma strip mall, Joan Reminick discovers first-rate Thai cooking courtesy of chef-owner Veerawat Satsri, master of both spice and subtlety.
