Not a diner at all, Red Ginger Asian Diner in East Northport is a full-scale restaurant and takeout shop where all the food served is made in-house, says Newsday’s Joan Reminick in her Cheap Eats review this week. Spring rolls are light and crisp, she says, also recommending the chicken lettuce wraps and the wonton soup.

Latitude 121 Coastal Grill in Stony Brook, with its nautical theme, does well with mini pork wings and plump mussels, according to Newsday’s Peter M. Gianotti in his Fine Dining review. He also recommends a lush, creamy lobster Thermidor potpie.
