Sweet n' Savory replaces Eat Piada in Port Jefferson
Sweet n' Savory has launched in the white clapboard Port Jefferson house that last hosted Eat Piada.
Ivan Albert, a New York City firefighter, and his wife, Kimberly Albert, co-own what they call a “crepe and rice pudding bar.” Albert said the place features 14 seasonally changing flavors of rice pudding, his wife’s grandmother’s recipe. “For the holidays, we had flavors like eggnog and pumpkin; now, we have pistachio and coffee with espresso chips,” he said. They run $5 for an 8-ounce serving to $8.50 for a 16-ounce “share” portion to $15 for 32-ounces, which feeds up to five.
Order at the counter and watch your crepes being made. Varieties include a savory prosciutto, mozzarella and sun-dried tomato crepe ($9) as well as an egg, ham and cheese “omelet” crepe ($9.75). Sweet versions include one with pineapple, coconut and wet walnuts ($8.50) and a simple sugar and lemon version ($5.50).
There’s cafe seating in the space, which Albert described as having a “froufrou” look with hot pink and leopard as well as chandeliers. In spring, there should be outdoor seating.
