Super Bowl Sunday: Restaurant takeout touchdowns
As Super Bowl Sunday looms large, so does the demand for wings, subs and platters of hearty fare.
Rising to the challenge are these restaurants, each of which want to be the go-to spot for to-go eats.
Just one tip: Order as early as possible.
Snaps American Bistro in Wantagh will put together trays of food designed to feed 10 to 15 (half trays feed 5 to 8). Here’s a sampling; prices are for half trays: Buffalo wings ($40), short rib blue cheese quesadillas ($50), lobster truffle mac and cheese ($75), chicken parm ($50) and Southern fried chicken ($50). Prova (formerly Cinelli’s) in Oceanside is doing three-foot heroes, each of which feeds about 10 people. They're $35 each; varieties include a chicken bruschetta sub, an Italian sandwich with mortadella, salami, pepperoni and provolone, as well as a sliced steak with mozzarella on garlic bread. There are wing, wrap and panini packages as well as Buffalo wing specials (20 wings for $15, 40 for $20). Call for the full menu.

The Main Street group of restaurants — Maxwell’s in Islip, Post Office Cafe in Babylon, Finnegan’s in Huntington and Library Cafe in Farmingdale — will feature wings in a multitude of flavor choices (Buffalo, Sicilian, chipotle BBQ and honey BBQ) at $80 for a full 10-pound tray and $45 for a 5-pound half tray. There’s also a $149 tailgate package that includes a tray of Buffalo wings, hot spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips and a tray of mac and cheese.
