New to East Quogue is the descriptively named East Quogue Eatery, which offers breakfast and lunch as well as coffee drinks and ice cream.

It’s co-cheffed by pals Adam Feirstein and Joe Milidantri, who met at culinary school in Syosset. Before that, both had been in the corporate world, Feirstein in human resources and Milidantri in graphic design and printing.

The place, which used to be a bagel store-deli, features counter service, with orders brought out to tables. A breakfast dish the co-chefs are particularly proud of is the unusual “sweet strawberry bliss” omelet ($9.95) filled with cream cheese and fresh strawberries and topped with strawberries and powdered sugar. They also offer corn cakes with bacon and jalapeño ($9.95) as well as bacon-and-chocolate-chip waffles ($9.95).

For lunch, you can get a sandwich called the “pig out” ($10.95) with slow-roasted pulled pork, sweet and spicy bacon and ham with Swiss, pickled onions and house-made whole-grain mustard aoli. Or else go vegetarian with the “energizer” sandwich ($9.95) of white bean hummus, mixed greens and vegetables. A roster of burgers includes the “magic mushroom” ($10.95) topped with a spicy mushroom sauté, Pepper Jack cheese and avocado, or a “peace out” house-made brown-rice burger ($9.95) with arugula, roasted red peppers and avocado on top. There’s also a roster of hot dogs, plain and fancy.

The place opens at 6:30 a.m. daily, with the kitchen closing at 3 p.m., but you can get Edy's ice cream or a pastry for dessert with something from the espresso bar until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

East Quogue Eatery is at 481 Montauk Hwy., East Quogue, 631-996-2840.
