Nassau restaurants team up to benefit Empire State Games
The Nassau County Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged are getting a big assist on Sept. 19 from Long Island’s restaurant community. Taste of Nassau, presented by County Executive Ed Mangano at East Norwich's Chelsea Mansion, is a benefit to raise money for the 2014 games.
Among the establishments slated to offer tastings are Seasons 52 in Garden City (pictured above), Zorn’s in Bethpage and Bellmore, Jake’s Steakhouse in East Meadow, Ciao Baby in Massapequa Park, Vincent’s Clam Bar in Carle Place, Per Un’Angelo in Wantagh, West East All Natural Bistro in Hicksville and The Meat House in Roslyn.
The event will be hosted by Elisa DiStefano of News 12 Long Island, and headlined by DJ Marc Weiss, a trained restaurant chef who simultaneously spins records while cooking up a storm. Also on the bill: Twilight Jazz Trio and DJ Savoy. The national anthem will be sung by 12-year-old Katie Zimmer, who suffers from a lung disorder.
The event is from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $85 at the door, $75 online at Eventbrite. For more information call 631-337-1603.
Chelsea Mansion is at 34 Muttontown Lane in East Norwich.
