Marc Murphy, other celebrity chefs cooking in Entree to a Cure benefit
Four well-known chefs will be providing the meal for the second “Grand Chefs Gala” to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Greater New York. Entree to a Cure will take place Oct. 24 at Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale. The evening’s host is Lily Stolzberg of News 12 Long Island.
During the cocktail hour, bites will be provided by Fran Klier, Manhattan caterer and a former competitor on “Hell’s Kitchen.” She’ll be serving caramelized pear crostini, goat-cheese with balsamic-fig reduction, bacon-wrapped herbed dates with Gorgonzola, mini beef Wellingtons.
Lia Fallon, executive chef at the Riverhead Project, is on first course: peekytoe crab and roasted corn succotash with whipped chipotle butter.
The main, herb-crusted pork chop with celery-root puree and roasted shallots, will be cooked by Marc Murphy, chef-owner of Benchmarc in Manhattan and also a judge on Food Network’s “Chopped.”
For dessert, Steven Ciccone will make pumpkin mousse and white-chocolate-cremeux terrine with bourbon-toasted pecans. Ciccone is the owner of an eponymous Farmingdale-based custom-cake shop.
All four chefs will attend the gala, and there will be a silent auction to win a private pastry-making class with chef Ciccone. VIP guests will have access to the kitchen while the meal is prepared.
VIP tickets are $500 ($400 of which is tax deductible). Early registration (before Oct. 18) and young-professional tickets are $125 (ages 21 to 30, $35 deductible).
