Luso Smithtown's meat show: first bites

The amount of protein and the level of cholesterol in Smithtown have just spiked.

Newcomer Luso is packed with diners reveling in the assortment of grilled meats that's the churrascaria's specialty. Waiters arrive brandishing skewers of them, and you choose what you want.

But, while the all-you-can-eat carnivore's carnival offers quantity, sometimes chewing the red meat is like nibbling on a belt. Stick with items such as turkey wrapped with bacon, sausage, and top sirloin rather than skirt steak or cubes of beef.  The cost: $33.95 per person.

The restaurant also offers barbecued chicken and grilled seafood as a la carte courses. And grilled chorizo sausage with pickled vegetables is a very good appetizer.
