The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene
Long Island restaurants: New reviews
In this week’s Newsday, Joan Reminick reviews DirtyBurger, which takes over the Plainview location that used to be Cheeburger Cheeburger. Chef-partner Ian Russo “likes to dirty things up with a cayenne-spiked spice blend,” she writes. “He uses this ‘dirty dust’ in almost every dish he offers, mellowing the heat with a bit of honey.” Reminick wonders if “the whole dirty shtick is pure gimmickry,” but “it works.”
Peter M. Gianotti visits Acacia, the “sharp, new show under way opposite the Paramount theater” in Huntington. There’s “energy, style, music and a lot of mussel pots,” he writes. “Seafood is the specialty, as you'd expect from chef Matthew Maxwell, whose experience includes fishwork at the departed Riverbay in Williston Park and The Water Club in Manhattan.”
