This week exploreLI.com publishes the fifth in a 10-week series of stories picking the Top 10 tables on Long Island in 10 different, popular categories. They are: Asian, Asian-fusion, International, Italian, Mediterranean/Middle Eastern, New American, seafood, steak, sushi and, a more general one, Cheap Eats.

This week: Asian Fusion.  Click here to see our picks. The favorite: Monsoon in Babylon.

To see the first 10 of 100 in the Asian category, click here.

To see the second 10 of 100 in the Italian category, click here.

To see the third 10 of 100 in the Cheap Eats category, click here.

To see the fourth 10 of 100 in the International category, click here.

There also will be an 11th feature covering 10 great restaurants that didn't fit into any of these categories.

The restaurants were selected by Newsday's food critics Peter M. Gianotti and Joan Reminick with input from food writer Erica Marcus. In addition to the Top 10, they chose a favorite in each category.

These winners made the cut based primarily on the quality of their food. In the “cheap“ category, cost was a key factor. To represent what's available on as much of Long Island as possible, location also was taken into account.

We'd like to know your choices, too. Let the conversations begin.
