Kitchen A Trattoria in St. James being sold to chef
Kitchen A Trattoria, one of Long Island's top Italian restaurants, will be sold to its current chef.
Gallagher, 35, has been associated with Lomando restaurants since 2009, first at Kitchen A Bistro and then Kitchen A Trattoria, where he has created and executed the menus in recent years. He plans to keep the restaurant pretty much as is, except perhaps for the name.
"Instead of Eric paying me at the end of the week, I'm going to be paying him at the end of the month," Gallagher said. He expected the sale to be completed "relatively soon."
Gallagher's local experience also includes stints at Starr Boggs in Westhampton Beach and Jamesport Manor Inn in Jamesport.
Lomando said in an email that he was selling Kitchen A Trattoria because he was "interested in trying to simplify my life (a little)." He added that selling Gallagher the restaurant "seemed a perfect fit."
Among the popular dishes at Kitchen A Trattoria are baked clams, pasta Bolognese, meatballs and braised beef.
