A most singular restaurant, Kazan Authentic Central Asian Cuisine in Port Washington, has closed. The place specialized in the lively, intriguing cuisine of the former Soviet republic of Uzbekistan.

The year-old dining spot garnered a two-and-a-half star rating and was named by Newsday as one of the top 10 restaurants of 2012. Dishes recalled with fondness and yearning: the juicy butterflied Cornish hen called chicken Tabaka, the bright noodle-beef-vegetable soup known as logmahn, and the house-baked tandoori-style bread, lepeshka, served with silky hummus.
