Expect a new menu in the new year at the Jedediah Hawkins Inn, where Alex Algieri, who earned three stars from Newsday last year at the North Fork Oyster Company in Greenport, now is executive chef.

Algieri succeeds Keith Luce, whose restaurant at the inn, Luce & Hawkins, is expected eventually to be renamed. Luce could not be reached for comment.

Algieri, 31, also cooked at the departed Wildthyme in Southampton and earlier at Mirko's in Water Mill. He returned to Long Island after working at  Patina in Los Angeles.

"We are going to try out new things," Algieri said, " staying with locally sourced ingredients." New dishes are expected to be added in January and through the year. Til then, the restaurant is still open with the existing menu.

Jedidiah Hawkins Inn is situated in a restored 19th century mansion, which reflects Italianate and Victorian styles. Luce & Hawkins was named the top restaurant of 2010 in Newsday.
