Greenport Chowder Festival returns June 8
Yes, after a one-year hiatus, the Greenport Chowder Festival returns, with 15 chefs competing for the trophy. The victor is chosen by popular vote.
Tickets to the fest are available online at www.eastendseaport.org or at the event. They're $12.50 per person in advance, $17.50 at the festival. Each ticket holder may cast one ballot.
Among the participating restaurants are popular Greenport spots including Noah's, First and South, The Frisky Oyster and Claudio's; A Lure of Southold; and A Mano of Mattituck. If you spend $20 or more at a participating restaurant, you'll be entered into a drawing for prizes.
The 2014 competition will take place near 234 Carpenter St., close to the Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. and the Chase Bank branch, from noon to 3 p.m. There will be beer and root beer tastings, too.
The festival benefits the East End Seaport Museum & Maritime Foundation.
