If you'd like an up-close-and-edible look at how a restaurant kitchen works, the Garden City Hotel provides one Tuesday.
Dine in the kitchen of REIN, the hotel's main restaurant, April 16, as part of its "chef's table" series. The five-course dinner with wines is $150 per person, plus tax and tip.
Executive chef Michael Mandato will prepare halibut gravlax with charred peach, pickled radish and ginger marmalade; seared masala-seasoned salmon with morels, English peas and cauliflower puree; grilled smoked duck breast with fingerling potato-and-leek salad; Western-spiced bison Wellington; and warm clafoutis, a French cherry dessert.
The wines inlude Veuve Clicquot Champagne; Ehlers sauvignon blanc; Louis Latour Puligny-Montrachet; Sterling merlot; Judd's Hill cabernet sauvignon; and Royal Tokaji Furmint.
