Food Truck tasting precedes Westbury Plaza Italian tapas launch
In advance of its opening on Tuesday, May 27, in Garden City, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza in Garden City is offering Long Islanders a free taste of what’s to come. The second branch of a Clifton, New Jersey, restaurant — and the first to hit Long Island — will have a food truck parked near the restaurant, which is next to Noodles & Company.
When it opens, the 140-seat enoteca will be decorated with an industrial motif inspired by New York City train stations of the 1920s. It will serve more than 150 wines by the bottle and 40-plus by the glass. On a menu dominated by small plates are cured meats and cheeses ($6 each; 3 for $17), grilled shrimp scampi bruschetta ($7), charred octopus ($11), prosciutto and arugula pizza ($12) and spaghetti alla carbonara ($9). There are only four large plates (designed to be shared), among them grilled chicken ($20) and a Tuscan bone-in strip steak ($29).
