First bites: Bell & Anchor in Sag Harbor

It's reason enough to visit The Bell & Anchor, a waterfront spot that immediately livens up the season in Sag Harbor.
B&A is the new restaurant from David Loewenberg and executive chef Sam McCleland, co-owners of The Beacon, in downtown Sag Harbor. Loewenberg also is co-owner of little/red and red/bar brasserie in Southampton as well as Fresno in East Hampton.
Here the theme, of course, is seafood at an airy, modern address that looks onto Mill Creek Marina.
The story goes that lobster Thermidor got its name from Napoleon. It represents the month on the French Revolutionary calendar when he is believed to have tasted it.
You should taste it as soon as possible. Cognac, mustard and Gruyere cheese flavor the classic dish, which arrives with fingerling potatoes.
Another highlight at B&A is dubbed "P.B. & O," a snappy lettuce wrap that brings together a rectangle of pork belly, an oyster and housemade kimchee, all to very good effect.
There are well-chosen wines and local brews to go with the menu. And you can conclude with a root beer float, starring Stewart's.
