Crave in Port Washington is closed
Crave, the casual American restaurant opposite the Port Washington railroad station, has closed.
There was a lit Christmas tree outside the restaurant Monday night. And some holiday lights were strung above the bar. Rain-soaked takeout menus were turning frosty near the door. But the front dining room already had been disassembled.
Crave opened last year in the 14 Haven Ave. space that most recently housed Haven Grill, Cafe Capriccio and Montebello.
The restaurant received a 1-1/2 star rating in Newsday in June. Recommended dishes at Crave included the brick-oven pizzas, house-made chicken potpie, pappardelle Bolognese (wide ribbons of pasta in a well-seasoned sauce with crumbled sweet sausage and meat from braised shortribs) and do-it-yourself S'mores
