The dish on Long Island's restaurant and food scene

Remember when Gordon Ramsay rode into Babylon on his white horse to save Peters Restaurant and civilize its ill-tempered narcissistic owner? Now, Peter's joins the list of Ramsay alumni (Trobiano's, Mixing Bowl Eatery, Seascape) that have shut down. Perhaps in another economic climate, some might have survived.
Another restaurant departure is Tennessee Jacks BBQ in East Islip, whose ownership had changed a few months ago. I learned of the closing from barbecue pro Will Breakstone, who owned the former Willie Bs BBQ in Bay Shore and posted a blog comment over the weekend. Thanks, Will!
On the brighter side, a new 'cue joint is due to open any day now in East Meadow. Keeping fingers and toes crossed. Stay tuned for updates.
