Cake-by-the-slice at Copenhagen Bakery in Northport
Getting an individual pastry or cookie at a bakery has never been a problem. But have you ever looked longingly at all the big cakes and wondered how a certain one tasted? Wonder no more — at least at Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe in Northport, which will now sell you a slice of any cake in the display case.
At $2.95 for a slice, choices include lemon Bundt cake (a personal favorite) strawberry shortcake, princess cake (a Scandinavian specialty featuring yellow cake, apricot preserves and custard that’s domed with whipped cream and marzipan) and chocolate truffle cake.
Slices, Hansen said, are neither huge nor skimpy; he gets 12 out of an 8-inch cake. Worried about calories? Each piece, quipped Hansen, “is half the calories of a piece double the size.”
Copenhagen Bakery & Cafe is at 75 Woodbine Ave., Northport, 631-754-3256, copenhagenbakery.net.
