American Social opens in Massapequa
Are you ready for Disco Fries?
French fries with melted mozzarella and either brown gravy or Russian dressing may not have helped John Travolta slip into his "Saturday Night Fever" suit, but it's designated a "favorite" at the new American Social Kitchen and Cocktails in Massapequa.
The bar and grill stresses casual American fare with some international accents. A Reuben spring roll, with corned beef and 'kraut, vies with oysters Rockefeller, chicken wings with hummus, and pulled-pork sliders with sesame-seared tuna.
Yes, there are burgers, as well as tacos; ground-beef shepherd's pie plus lobster mac-and-cheese; tiramisu and Black Forest cake in addition to coconut cream pie and "American pie," or apple pie with a cinnamon-crumb crust.
Main courses: $12 to $23. Appetizers: $6 to $12. Burgers, sandwiches, tacos and salads, $7 to $14.
American Social is open every day from 11:30 a.m. to 4 a.m., with a late-night menu starting at midnight.
