Frankly Thai $$ | Thai, Restaurant, Vegetarian 959 Hempstead Tpke. Franklin Square The chef's skill shows in an appetizer called "golden bags," spiced ground chicken wrapped in dough and fried to a greaseless crunch, and continues with a light, fresh pad Thai and feisty mango shrimp curry.

SriPraPhai $$ | Thai, Vegetarian 280 Hillside Ave. Williston Park The kitchen adroitly balances the hot, salty, sour and sweet. Case in point: larb, a blend of ground pork with mint, chili and lime that explodes across the tongue. Also notable: BBQ pork tenders, papaya salad, beef noodle soup.
