Some restaurants make you feel right at home for good reason: They're owned and run by families. Here are three Long Island restaurants where parents and children work well together:
PRIMO PIATTO, Huntington
Robust Italian food characterizes this restaurant owned by the Castelli family, with father Fabrizio and son Francesco co-chefs, mother Angela hosting, daughter Ariana in charge of public relations and human resources and college-age son, Giuseppe, helping out whenever possible.
Brothers Domenico and Anthony Sacramone are chef-owners of this winning coal oven pizzeria-ristorante. Their mother, Maddalena Sacramone, spends Wednesdays in East Meadow with her sons, making gnocchi, manicotti and cavatelli.
CABO FRESH MEXICAN GRILL, Stony Brook
Virtually everything is made from scratch at this eco-friendly Tex-Mex place owned by Jim DiVilio and family. DiVilio's wife, Dina, does public relations and catering; sons Anthony and Jim work every job in the house. Daughter Victoria, still in school, is part-time cashier.
