Running 26.2 miles is not for everyone, but you don't have to be an athlete to get involved with the Long Island Marathon.

The race brings thousands of people to Uniondale and the surrounding area every year for an entire weekend of events, from a fitness expo and a kids run to the actual marathon and post-race fun.

The 42nd annual RXR Long Island Marathon will take place on Sunday, May 4, and volunteers will be needed throughout the weekend.

Tasks include helping with registration, distributing race packets, assisting in course setup and more.

A volunteer orientation meeting will be held on April 30 at 7:15 p.m. at the Mitchel Athletic Complex to review the weekend and assign tasks.

If you can't make the meeting, you can also email volunteer@thelimarathon.com to find out more.
