If you're thinking of treating the dads in your life to a day of well-deserved relaxation or much-needed grooming help for Father's Day, a birthday or just because, many Long Island spas offer treatments with men in mind.

That means no girlie frilliness or unnecessary froufrou - unless that's what your man wants, of course. Such services range from sports massages and soothing shaves to gentlemen's facials and men's manicures and pedicures.

Whether your Dad, uncle, boyfriend or husband is a grooming disaster or a neatly manscaped metrosexual, now is the perfect time to treat him to a bit of TLC.

The service, performed by a master barber (11 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, starts with hot towels and aromatherapy to open pores and soften skin, followed by a pre-shave oil to ready it for the barber's straightedge razor. After the shave, the barber applies a mask and vitamin C-infused after-shave balm. (If Dad's bald, the same price pays for a traditional shave of his face and head.)

Hands-on-Health Massage & Day Spa: 225 Howells Rd., Bay Shore, 631-665-0082

For the dad who leans toward the scruffy or unkempt side, "The Gentleman's Clean-up" ($140) offers a full-body Swedish massage, "clean" hand and foot treatments and "clean" face and neck treatments, plus an eyebrow wax and reshape.
