New contests for kids

Photo credit: Handout | Google invites students K to 12 to submit a Google doodle with the theme of "If I could travel in time, I'd visit..." for its 2012 Doodle 4 Google contest. Winner's artwork will be displayed on Google homepage in May and on a Crayola crayon box. Winner also receives a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for his or her school. Deadline March 20; visit google.com/doodle4google.

This seems to be the season of contests for kids -- from inventing a winning invention to doodling a design that might appear on Google's homepage. Here are a few opportunities:
