Weekend family fun on Long Island: Rosemary Wells, Party in the Park and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From fall festivals and ship walking tours to a book signing and more, there is plenty happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities during the weekend:
Party in the Park at Blumenfeld Family Park (Main Street, Port Washington). Carnival atmosphere featuring trackless train rides, games, face painting, inflatables and more on Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m.; rain date Sunday. Price: $5 donation.
Fall Family Fun Day at the Suffolk Y JCC (74 Hauppauge Rd., Commack). Families can enjoy a petting zoo, bounce houses, dance and sport games for children, a toddler obstacle course, arts and crafts and more on Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Price: $5 per family.
Down the Ways: The Wooden Ship Era Walking Tour at Setauket Dock East (Shore Road, East Setauket). Take a tour to explore the history of shipbuilding in Setauket; learn about shipbuilders, ship captains and more; presented by the Three Village Historical Society on Saturday, at 2 p.m. Price: $5.
Author Appearance and Book Signing: Rosemary Wells at Book Revue (313 New York Ave., Huntington). Author Rosemary Wells will speak and sign copies of her book, “Max and Ruby at the Warthogs' Wedding," all books signed must be purchased at Book Revue on Sunday, at noon. Price: Free.
Long Island Karting Association at Nassau Coliseum (1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale). On Sunday, from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., families can enjoy this racing sport event, which is run by the Long Island Karting Association's board of volunteers and many members of the club. Held in parking lot 8. Price: $5.
