Weekend family fun on Long Island: Ringling Bros., St. Patrick's Day crafts and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From the circus and "The Three Little Pigs" to St. Patrick's Day crafts and more, there's much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for fun, family friendly activities this weekend:
1. Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey: "Built to Amaze!" at Nassau Coliseum, 1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale. A family friendly circus featuring elephants, tigers, acrobats and aerialists. Show times: Friday at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Price: $20-$80.
3. Blarney stone at Long Island Children's Museum, 11 Davis Ave., Garden City. Legend has it that if you kiss a Blarney stone you will be given the gift of gab. Kids can decorate their own Blarney stone on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. Price: Free with museum admission ($12).
4. "Three Little Pigs Out West" at Studio Theatre, 141 S. Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst. On Saturday at 2 p.m., the famous little pigs head out west to Baby Bear's Dude Ranch for a vacation -- that is before the Big Bad Wolf and his cousin show up. Price: $10.
5. St. Patrick's Day Walk at Caleb Smith State Park Preserve, 581 W. Jericho Tpke., Smithtown. Enjoy a leisurely, family friendly guided walk as you explore the preserve on Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Price: $4, $3 for children ages 3 to 18; reservations required.
