Weekend family fun on Long Island: 'Eternal Con,' 'Rapunzel' and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From superheroes and the Green Fest to a wildlife craft fair and more, there is plenty happening on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:
Port Jefferson Green Fest at Port Jefferson Village Center (101A E. Broadway, Port Jefferson). Join in for informative ways of having a green lifestyle, learn the latest green solutions with eco-friendly vendors, a farmers market, activities for children, live music and more on Saturday, from 1-5 p.m. Price: Free.
Eternal Con (Long Island Comic Con) at Cradle of Aviation (Charles Lindbergh Boulevard, Garden City). Top comic book names will be in attendance on Saturday, from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Special events for children in honor of Father's Day on Sunday, a Cosplay parade, a lightsaber demonstration and more. Price: $20; $12 Saturday, 6$ Sunday for children 2-12 years old.
"Rapunzel" at Take-One Performing Arts Academy (1021 Portion Rd., Farmingville). Families can enjoy a re-enactment of the classic fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm on Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Price: $10.
Reptilian Neighbors at Sands Point Preserve (127 Middle Neck Rd., Sands Point). On Saturday, from 11 a.m. to noon, get up close and personal with a variety of reptiles including snakes, lizards and turtles. Registration is recommended. Price: $10 per car.
Wildlife and Craft Fair at Sweetbriar Nature Center (62 Eckernkamp Dr., Smithtown). Check out craft vendors, games, face-painting, animal shows and a falconry demonstration with live birds of prey and a live wallaby; food and refreshments available on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Price: $10 per family.
