Weekend family fun on Long Island: Easter egg hunts, spring festivals and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From the Easter Bunny and egg hunts to Pinocchio, penguins and more, there's much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for fun, family-friendly activities this weekend:
1. Penguin Brunch at Long Island Aquarium & Exhibition Center (431 E. Main St., Riverhead). Celebrate spring with the penguins, enjoy a seasonal brunch, make a holiday craft and then enjoy the aquarium. First seating on Saturday is at 10 a.m.; second seating is at 11:45 a.m. Price: adults $34.95, children ages 3-12 $29.95, children ages 2 and younger free; reservations are required.
3. Dinosaur Egg Hunt at Garvies Point Museum (50 Barry Dr., Glen Cove). Collect dinosaur eggs with special prizes inside, learn how dinosaurs lived and ate, and see and touch real fossils Saturday at 10 a.m. Price: $5.
4. Pinocchio at Carriage House Theater, Vanderbilt Mansion (180 Little Neck Rd., Centerport). Follow this classic tale about a puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy. Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. Price: $10, $8 children, free younger than 3.
5. Easter Egg Hunts at Benner's Farm (56 Gnarled Hollow Rd., Setauket). On Sunday, kids can hunt for more than 1,000 Easter eggs hidden around the farm at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Easter Bunny will also be available for pictures. Price: $7, $6 children and seniors.
