Weekend family fun on Long Island: 'Disney on Ice,' arts and crafts and more
Looking for things to do with the kids this weekend? From ice shows and art projects, to "Beauty and the Beast" and more, there's much to do on Long Island. Here are my top five picks for family-friendly activities this weekend:
Tree-mendous Thanksgiving Cards at Long Island Children's Museum (11 Davis Ave., Garden City) on Friday, Nov. 8 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Kids can create an autumn-inspired greeting card to give to someone they are thankful for. Price: Free with museum admission.
Disney on Ice: Let's Celebrate! at Nassau Coliseum (1255 Hempstead Tpke., Uniondale) on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 9 and Sunday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. See Mickey and more of your favorite Disney characters in this family-friendly ice show. Price: $15-$165.
Beauty and the Beast at BroadHollow's BayWay Arts Center (265 E. Main St., East Islip) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. See a live performance of the classic tale. Price: $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
Second Saturdays: Build it! at Hofstra University Museum Emily Lowe Gallery (Hempstead Tpke., Hempstead) on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Children learn about architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, then design and build their own structures. Price: $5
Fall Into Art: Seascape Collage at Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Musuem (301 Main St., Cold Spring Harbor) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2:30 p.m. Families can create and explore marine-themed seascapes. Appropriate for children ages 6 and up. Price: Free with musuem admission.
