Superstorm Sandy relief: Local moms helping moms
Whether you're a mom who has been directly affected by superstorm Sandy or you're looking to donate to a local parent in your area, Moms on a Mission is here to help.
Denise Albert, originally from Port Washington, and Melissa Gerstein, of The MOMS, a multiplatform lifestyle brand that is featured on television, online and in print, created Moms on a Mission to help other moms.
Many Long Island parents are in need of supplies for their children — everything from diapers and baby wipes to strollers, jackets, shoes and other essentials.
Albert and Gerstein set up a mom-to-mom section on their website, themoms.com, to help those in need. If you have a need, simply visit their site or send them an email, and they will try to find another mom to match you.
“We think there’s no better way to help then to match moms up so everyone can do their little part to help each other — mom to mom, family to family,” said the website. “If you’re a mom that wants to help — let us know!”
Please note: The group says it can’t guarantee a suitable match, volunteer or donation, but will try.
