To kick off Discovery Channel's 27th annual Shark Week, the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center in Riverhead is hosting a Family Fun Day on Saturday.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the aquarium will be transformed into a shark-themed oasis, featuring a question-and-answer and autograph session with Shark Week on-air personality and shark expert Andy Casagrande, a sneak peek at Shark Week's "Great White Matrix," a kids area with face painting, a scavenger hunt, and more. Additionally, there will be goody bags, coloring activity sheets, photo opportunities with Shark Week's "Chompie Jr.," fin hat giveaways and more.

In honor of the popular show's 27th anniversary, Optimum and Discovery Communications will offer the first 27 Optimum Rewards members who show their Optimum Rewards Card free family admission for families of five and less. Other Optimum Reward members are encouraged to bring their membership card for 30 percent off aquarium admission.
