Royal baby trends to follow
Always a fashion icon, Kate Middleton is making us all abuzz with her maternity style as she sports her royal baby bump.
Dubbed "The Dutchess Effect," Middleton's style is coveted by many Americans. From wrap dresses to sleek coats, her classic yet elegant wardrobe has left many wondering how the Duchess of Cambridge's maternity clothes will influence new moms all over the world.
"Everyone already oohs and ahhs over Kate Middleton's style, and now that she has a little one on the way, her fashion choices will be in the spotlight even more," said Elena Mauer, deputy editor of TheBump.com, a leading website for new moms. "Kate's the poster girl for sophisticated, feminine and chic style."
Some fashion experts believe her maternity style won't veer much from what she currently wears. So, what will she be showing off over the next several months?
"Think dresses with ruching across the stomach in the Duchess' favorite color -- bold shades of blue, as well as unique patterns and even some lace for those royal evening affairs," said Mauer.
And you can forget about pictures of a naked belly bump. "Just as she dresses now, you won't see Kate exposing too much -- no plunging necklines in her maternity style, but we can definitely see her showing some leg in just-above-the-knee hemlines."
Will the Royal Baby registry dictate American gear trends? Absolutely!
"Kate's stroller choice will probably be the first piece of baby gear we see her with," said Mauer. "A definite contender is UK's popular Silver Cross pram, a very classic model that is said to be the 'Rolls Royce of prams,' and a favorite among celebs."
She'll most likely lean toward more modern gear, according to Mauer. "We can picture Kate carrying a stylish diaper bag that doubles as her own handbag, complete with lots of storage pockets and compartments for diapers and bottles," she said. "We can also see Prince William sporting a durable bag as well."
